“Growing up, PE for me was my favourite subject and the best part of the school week. Luckily, because of the involvement and participation in the sporting lessons, I was able to find my feet and fall in love with something which I can now call my dream job.

When I heard about what the guys at Action For Sport have experienced and witnessed, it really shocked and blew my mind. There are kids out there in my own community, who are too scared to even participate in PE lessons and further sporting channels because of their situation. To hear this really broke my heart. I really wanted to reach out to the guys at Action For Sport and help where I can, to make sure every child gets the fair opportunity to take part in sport.”

“I was introduced to Clive by my good friend Neil Sibson (Manager of Yorkshire Amateur Football Club), who was also instrumental in giving Clive the idea of helping kids to play sport, who had not got the kit, through no fault of their own.

Subsequently we got together, and we decided that I would be able to help the charity to drive forward and give them a platform to achieve their ultimate goals to help children play sport, achieve their goals, keep fit and as we know, all of this helps society further down the road.”

“I have known Clive for several years ever since we worked at Bradford City together and share a common belief that the pastoral care of young sports men and women is essential. I took an interest in Action For Sport at an early stage and fully understand what Clive and Andy are wanting to achieve. There are several strands to the charity that appeal to me as both a father and someone al to me as both who has worked in both professional and amateur sport and therefore removing any barriers preventing children playing sport is very worthwhile.

I didn’t hesitate in joining their project as an Ambassador and hope I can help them achieve their objectives. Action For Sport was founded in Bradford to assist disadvantaged children but I’ll be keen to amplify their good work to a wider audience and support all children in Yorkshire.”

“As a young boy I had one passion in life, that passion was football. I would play after school I would play at the park with my mates, and I played on both a Saturday and a Sunday for my local teams. Like many young boys across the country, I would always dream of becoming a professional footballer, a dream that I never envisaged would come true.

However, this all changed one day whilst playing for my local club when a scout saw something in me that he believed many people had missed. I would go on to realise my dream of being a professional footballer with Huddersfield Town and Doncaster Rovers and represented my county in the Wales Under 21 squad.

I am proud to be an Action For Sport Ambassador where I can hopefully inspire others to follow their dreams and to never give up.”
